Reflections & Considerations on Buying in Spain's Costa Blanca
August 2007
The outcome of moving to Spain or buying property there depends largely on the decisions one makes and the quality of information one can gather before making those decisions. Major issues have to be addressed: Why Spain? What part of Spain? Why do property prices vary so much? There are so many issues to decide on and to resolve which create much scope for mistakes and bad decisions.
Having faced this situation ourselves, my wife Linda and I decided to establish our home and our business here, on what we believe to be the finest area of Mediterranean Spain, as Relocation Advisors and Property Brokers. Our adjacent advertisement briefly explains the scope of our services and on our website you will find information on all areas and topics relating to life on the Costa Blanca (North), information on the property purchase procedure and the comprehensive help and guidance we provide to you as a cost free service.
All major decisions involve choices and compromise and one has to find one’s own comfortable balance. The idyll of living ‘Native style’ in Spain has great romantic appeal but do consider the comforts we take for granted. The more popular, cosmopolitan resort towns provide a reassuring array of quality restaurants and shops together with excellent, English speaking health and dental facilities, good local schools as well as several local international colleges. When one considers the traditional, family values still prevalent in Spain, we are not surprised to see a growing number of young British families moving here in order to bring their children up in a society which seems sadly, to have been largely lost and forgotten in the U.K.
Finally, do not be tempted by property advertised at low prices. These often mean ‘prices from’ and they seldom relate to the property illustrated. The area you ultimately choose will dictate whether you have bought quality and value which will appreciate, or cheapness, which may not!
